Our Visitor Services/Event Coordinator is responsible for supporting our most important revenue streams—the Garden store, wine/beer sales, and general event support. An ideal candidate would be outgoing and excel at providing great customer service. A natural problem solver, this person would take ownership of the atmosphere and impression of the IBG store, helping deliver a welcoming experience for our visitors while answering questions and highlighting points of interest. Additionally, this person would be the face of our wine/beer sales at signature events, creating a fun and friendly environment while serving garden visitors.
Responsibilities
A member of the Visitor Services team, this position helps provide support to a variety of departments including:
Store Duties (45%)

Curate a garden-appropriate inventory mix

Establish and maintain relationships with sellers and makers

Set up accounts on behalf of IBG including non-profit status and tax-exempt information

Receive, price and enter inventory in our Altru point of sale software

Deliver inventory to store and merchandise

Work in the store
-
Be an Altru and Square troubleshooting resource for store volunteers

Train volunteers to work in the store

Complete monthly inventory counts
-
Report on monthly sales, inventory and costs of goods sold

Train to be a tour guide, Garden Ambassador back-up
Alcohol Duties (15%)

Be Tip Certified and assist staff and volunteers with this certification

Establish and maintain relationships with brewers, wineries and distributors

Order alcohol and supplies

Stock alcohol, check it in and out, perform regular inventory

Apply for permits as needed

Report post-event sales and attendance to Alcohol and Beverage Control

Serve alcohol at events, including signature events and wine pop-ups

Recruit and train others to work at events
-
Create appropriate signage for each event, including details of what we are serving
Event Duties (40%)

Support team prior to events with planning, organization and logistical efforts as directed by the Event Director and/or Event Manager

Support event staff during events as needed (may include interacting with volunteers, taking tickets, directing traffic, equipment set-up, etc.)

Assist Event team in setup and teardown of events, working with other event staff to ensure the event is ready to go

Act as an onsite point of contact during events for both staff, volunteers, vendors, and guests
Visitor Services Departmental Duties (as needed)

Fill-in at front desk as needed. Demonstrating excellent customer service by answering a multi-line phone system and assisting in over the phone ticket sales, answering questions about the Garden and its programs

Work in kiosk as needed

Train to help support educational programming, i.e. field trips and camps

Support volunteers and understand volunteer job positions
Other duties as assigned
Skills, Specifications, & Experience
Excellent customer service and communication skills (including a little bit of public speaking);
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to supervise and train volunteers during events
Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and delegate with the entire event in mind,
Working in various weather conditions, like heat, cold, snow, or rain. As well as working in areas throughout the Garden, sometimes on uneven surfaces
Ability to work well in a team setting
Ability to have flexible hours and variable schedules, working hours range from 8:30 am to as late as 9:00 pm on specified evenings, including weekends and some holidays.
Requirements

1-3 year customer service experience preferred

Must be able to serve alcohol.
