Ever used a bat detector? Discover incredible things about bats with us!

August 11th, 7:30p - 10:30p | Lucky Peak State Park 9725 ID-21

Welcome to Bat Night at Lucky Peak State Park with IBG! Join Ranger Bri Ford at the Middle Shelter of the Discovery Unit for a unique night experience at your local state park while contributing to a citizen science project.

This is your chance to use a bat detector to listen for bat feeding buzzes and hopefully catch a glimpse of them flying in their natural habitat. Educational and fun bat-centered activities, as well as a Lucky Peak Ranger presentation, will be available prior to the "viewing" portion of the night. We want to help you discover why bats should be your new best friend! This evening you will learn about the importance of bats to people, ecosystems, the economy, and the threats bats are facing.

Our mission is that you will walk away with a new appreciation for these "enigmatic sky puppies" and get to experience bats in a whole new way! This is a fun learning opportunity for the whole family and participants will get to take home bat-themed items to share the bat love!

What to bring:

Lawn chair (for sitting and watching the bats)

Headlamp with redlight capability if possible

Bug spray

Long pants & closed-toed shoes

Exact cash of $7 for the motor vehicle entrance fee or free with the Idaho State Parks Passport Sticker
