About the Garden
The Idaho Botanical Garden is one of Idaho’s premier destinations and a favorite local attraction for residents and visitors alike. The Garden’s 33 acres, nestled in the Boise foothills, were originally part of the Old State Penitentiary farm and nursery. Born of inspiration and support from innumerable donors and volunteers, the Idaho Botanical Garden has been a labor of love since the first seeds were sown in 1984. The Garden features landscaped gardens such as the English Garden, Heirloom Rose Garden, Alpine Garden, Meditation Garden, Lewis & Clark Native Plant Garden, and the evolving Children’s Adventure Garden.
The Idaho Botanical Garden is 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Organization. The Garden receives no public funds to operate relying on memberships, programs fees, and donations. Our mission is to provide a full garden experience for all ages that enhances our commu¬nity’s quality of life through plant collections, education programs, and entertainment, cultural, and community events.
Event revenue supports and maintains our many horticulture and educational programs throughout the year. Private contributions are critical to the Garden’s ability to provide an inspiring educational destination and treasured community resource.
